Students at the GSB joke that we are all like ducks, serenely floating across the top of the water, while underneath the water your legs are moving 100 miles an hour. I had just returned from doing counterinsurgency in Helmand, Afghanistan and in desperate need of reflection and rootedness. The Catholic Community helped to provide that space for me. In addition to going with my family to mass at the student center on Sundays, Fr. Xavier would bring mass to us at the business school on an occasional basis. My deepened faith at a critical time helped me to discern that I didn't want to chase the more stable and lucrative career paths, but prompted me to launch my own nonprofit to scale businesses and bring jobs to the parts of the world that need them most. Fr. Xavier now hosts me and rejuvenates my spirit each time I'm out in the Bay Area doing work for my nonprofit. CC@S was truly transformative to me, and my family's life, and I hope it continues to flourish so other students can enjoy the same.
