My participation at CC@S allowed a safe outlet where I could make sense of my fast paced and stressful schedule at Stanford. Even with a crazy schedule, as I was part of the Women’s Basketball team, Father X always made time to meet with me. Where everything on campus seems to focus on ambition, the Catholic space was an opportunity to step away and reflect on life’s bigger meanings. Furthermore, through the Catholic Community, I became a Spiritual Care Volunteer in the Stanford Hospital. Through this time, Fr. X helped me cement my beliefs and share them with others that were in pain.

I think one of the clearest memories of impact was being a Confirmation mentor. As a mentor for a middle school student, whose family resided in the Atherton area, I had the opportunity to be a part of a faith centered, multi-generational partnership where we were helping to nurture the child's own faith journey. While I sought to live out the values of cardinal service by engaging with the community, this experience transformed my own outlook on how to engage with other people inside and outside Stanford.
