Children

Baptism
We are happy to offer the sacrament of baptism for children of Stanford students, faculty, staff, alums, and other families who have been registered, active, contributing members of Catholic Community at Stanford for six months. Baptism of a child is intended as a commitment to raise that child with the Catholic faith.

For more information on eligibility and preparation requirements, and to submit a request for baptism, see the page Baptizing Your Child >>

First Reconciliation // First Communion // Confirmation
Preparation for these sacraments is part of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program.
Families are committing to a year of Sunday morning attendance, parent participation duties, and a retreat. Registration space is limited, with first priority given to families of Stanford students, faculty, staff, alums, and other families who have been registered, active, contributing members of Catholic Community at Stanford for six months. For more information, please contact Chaplain Teresa Pleins (tpleins@stanford.edu)

Children receiving these sacraments must be baptized Catholics. You will need to submit a copy of the certificate of Baptism. This can be a photocopy of your original certificate. Contact the church of baptism and indicate that your child is preparing for additional sacrament(s) and that you need a copy of the record. They will know what to do and will send it to you. Catholics who were baptized in denominations other than Roman Catholic can submit a photocopy of the Baptism certificate with a copy of the Catholic Profession of Faith.
