One of my first memories at Stanford was during the “all community picnic” the Catholic community has at the beginning of the year. I signed up early during the summer to be a volunteer and leader through this kind of activities. However, it seemed like the activity had 100 leaders as everyone was willing to help, bring ideas and even clean at the end of the event. I believe we spent about the same time eating as we spent cleaning the place afterwards. Building and cleaning the event seemed to be part of the activity. That truly resonated with me. The Catholic Community at Stanford is a community full of leaders all trying to create an impact in one way or the other.

Since then, I had the pleasure to be involved with different groups in the community, from the general catholic association, the graduate students’ associations and the GSB catholic community. I have been able to devote a fair amount of time to each and what I noticed while working in each subcommunity is that they all shared the same love. Love for the lord, and for one another. I’ve felt welcome in all of them, and I felt heard and supported.

Being surrounded by all these loves makes it easier to love back the community and make the most out of my time in Stanford.
