I have been a longtime member of the Catholic Community at Stanford since my undergraduate days and now as a permanent community member. The Catholic Community at Stanford has been a true “home” to me throughout the years, providing a foundation of faith and community which brings me ever closer to God and inspires me always to try to be a better person and to live a life focused more on giving back and putting others first. For many years however, I was more of a passive recipient of all the gifts the CC@S has to offer, ignoring the small voice encouraging me to volunteer and be a more active community participant, I recently resolved to try to give back and joined one of the Synod Action teams. The experience has been rewarding in a multitude of ways – meeting incredible community members in the Synod groups, learning more about the experiences and views of the broader CC@S community, and helping me to grow ever stronger in my faith and closer to God. The incredible feeling of peace, joy, hope, humility, grace, and spirituality I feel each time I attend Mass or when I am engaged in other CC@S activities is something I cannot adequately describe but which I cherish and for which I am forever grateful. I know wherever the path may or may not lead in the future, that my faith and the CC@S will always be “home” for me.
