The Spiritual Exercises in daily life under the direction of Fr. Bob, SJ, have been the cornerstone of my experience at Stanford. Every day for an hour I stop the daily fast-paced life of a Stanford student and reflect in silence about how Christ loves me and what are my deepest desires. In the silence is where I’m able to see myself as Christ sees me and everything I have, including the people He puts in my road to show me the way, as a gift from God. Little by little, as an ever-deepening spiral, you become aware that Christ loves you just as you are, a work in progress with highs and lows, and that you don’t need to be God or do everything perfectly in order to be loved. You are already perfect in God’s eyes. And that sets you free.
