Attending graduate school at Stanford was a big transition for me in many ways; I knew zero people in the Bay Area, it was my first time living far from home, and I was pushed academically unlike any other time in my life. This type of transition, naturally, can cause many insecurities and anxieties to arise. However, the Catholic Community at Stanford was a safe home for me during my time at Stanford.
During my time with the Catholic Community at Stanford, I regularly attended weekly small group sessions where I quickly learned I was not the only person struggling with this transition to graduate school. Through this small group I was not only able to learn new ways to pray, but I had chances to spiritually discuss events in my life with other students who were just like me. In addition to these small group meetings, I was fortunate enough to meet weekly with a priest on campus for spiritual direction. His insights unlocked new ways of thinking for me that will benefit my relationship with God beyond just my years at Stanford. I’m truly grateful for the Catholic Community at Stanford’s help with my spiritual life and my transition to graduate school!
