Film Study Group - Leon Morin, Priest

online via Zoom

Please join the Stanford Catholic Film Group on Monday, November 4, to discuss Leon Morin, Priest. This 1961 French drama, directed by Jean-Pierre Melville, is set in during World War II in Occupied France. Jean-Paul Belmondo stars as Leon, with Emmanuelle Riva as a jaded, lapsed Catholic widow of a Jewish husband who falls in love with Leon. This film was listed in Roger Ebert’s Great Movies list in 2009.

Rent the film from your library, view it at the Criterion Channel, or watch it for free using Kanopy.com. If you’re not already familiar with Kanopy, I highly recommend it. Anyone with a library card can watch films for free, if your library has the service (which most do, in the Bay Area). https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/leon-morin-priest >> to find where to watch it online.

If you haven’t joined the group yet, please also send an email to stanfordyrcfilm@gmail.com, with message “I’m interested”. The ZOOM link will be sent to the group the day before by email.

All groups are invited – Undergrads, Graduate Students, and Year Round Community!
