Reading Group
7:30 PM (Pacific Time) Online via Zoom
After our summer break we’ll meet again, via Zoom, on Monday August 11th at 7:30 to discuss Niall Williams’ extraordinary novel John. We all enjoyed Williams’ Time of the Child last winter, but this is very different kind of book. It is a fictional imagining of the Apostle John, very old and blind, exiled with a small group of Christian disciples to the island of Patmos. A Zoom link will be sent closer to the date to those on the emailing list. Anyone interested who is not on the contact list can contact Albert Gelpi (agelpi@stanford.edu).

“Who We Are Is How We Pray”: A Short Seminar on Prayer
Tuesdays May 6-May 27
Online via Zoom
Prayer is where we encounter the sacred, where we meet our God. This can be intimidating until we realize two things: God wants to be connected to us, and there are no bad prayers. That having been said, most of us do not pray as often as we would like. This is often because we wonder if God is listening, or because we find our prayer sometimes dry and boring, just fulfilling a perceived obligation. In this short four-week course we will discuss some of the questions we may ask ourselves about God and how those answers inform our prayer. We will learn that there is no such thing as “one size fits all”, and we will explore various ways of praying that feed us as unique individuals. All are welcome. Please email Nancy Greenfield (ngreenfield875@gmail.com) if you have questions or if you wish to receive a Zoom invitation.

A Lenten Prayer Group for Women
Women of the Year-Round Community:
Do you want to do something a little extra for Lent? One of our community members has offered to facilitate a six week prayer group for women. It will meet on Tuesday evenings during Lent from 7:30 until 9:00 pm. The off-campus location is still TBD. The group members will explore the readings for the Sundays of Lent, following the gospel of Luke. This is not a bible study, but a prayerful faith-sharing experience. There are places still available, and if you are interested, email Nancy Greenfield at ngreenfield875@gmail.com. It will be one of the best things you can do for yourself this Lenten season!
