Benjamin Liupaogo
Assistant Music Director
About Ben
Benjamin Liupaogo is a professional tenor, collaborative pianist, and church musician whose work is deeply rooted in sacred music, service, and community. A proud Pacific Islander of Samoan heritage, his musical ministry spans cathedral, parish, choral, and concert settings throughout the United States and Europe. He approaches music as a shared act of prayer—one that brings people together in reflection, healing, and hope.
Benjamin sings regularly with the Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys and the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale, and is a tenor with the Grammy Award–winning San Francisco Symphony Chorus. He also serves as an AGMA Extra Chorus member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus, bringing professional artistry, humility, and care to every ensemble he serves.
Trained in both performance and sacred music, Benjamin holds a Master of Sacred Music from the University of Notre Dame, where he cultivated a deep engagement with liturgy, theology, and pastoral musicianship. His experience includes work as a cantor, section leader, vocal coach, and music director for church choirs and sacred productions, always with a focus on serving the liturgy and supporting the spiritual life of the community.
In addition to his church work, Benjamin is a Lecturer in Vocal Studies at Stanford University, where he mentors young singers with an emphasis on healthy vocal technique, spiritual grounding, and artistic integrity. He also serves on the board of the Samoan Community Development Center (SCDC), supporting cultural, spiritual, and community enrichment within Pacific Islander communities.
