Makes a Difference

All we have and all that we are is a gift from God – our time, our talent, our treasure. We show our gratitude for these gifts by returning a portion of them back to God.

DONOR ADVISED FUNDS: We are grateful for recommendations for grants from your Donor Advised Funds. The Diocese of San Jose requests that you send grants to our U.S. Mail address, below, rather than to their Chancery.

A Message From Chaplain Teresa Pleins:

Covid-19 Has Created An Extraordinary Time
of both Trial and Grace

Covid-19 has created an extraordinary time--one of both trial and grace, whereby the people of our beloved CC@S have come together, no matter the geographical distance, to do the work of Christ.

It is with profound gratitude and awe that I have experienced my ministry being bent by this Spirit.  Bent to work alongside community members from as far away as Tanzania, Germany, Canada, the Philippines, Boston, Southern California. The Spirit among us is strong, loving, and wise, and has opened up creative ways of caring for one another--allowing liturgy, teaching, and counseling to keep hope alive for our community.

We are being called to be Church in an unfolding, new way.  Our live streamed Masses are keeping Maryknoll doctors and nuns in Bangladesh sustained. Children still join in with their egg shakers for the Easter Alleluia.  Our faith formation program continues to serve more than 90 children on line. Video meetings allow alums who graduated over 20 years ago to become part of the virtual choir.  Conversations among retired faculty and current students allow the sharing of mature wisdom and the joy of young expectations.  Prayer takes on new meaning as we hold up the names of the dead, the sick, the lonely, and jobless.  There is a renewed and sharpened awareness of each person's worth, each person's vulnerability, each person's call to be strength and life for others.

And like the early disciples living through tumult and yet still witnessing to the Resurrection, "It is miraculous in our eyes!"
